TECH TRAVESTY: Does the record store / shopping for music online overwhelm you? What about all the bands that do not have I Tunes music sales contracts. Like 'The Bee Gees' (my fathers favorite) are represented by ’The Gee Bees’ on I Tunes. The original vibrato is not identical and I need the 100% authentic nostalgic experience on this one. Plus they deserve the sales and no one will be visiting Tower Records (and maybe more music stores to follow) after they sell off all their inventory and close up forever. 'The Bee Gees' music reps should sign up so the (99 cents a song) internet generation can know the authentic legacy and credit goes where credit is due. Music history may otherwise become inaccurate when online for posterity.

TECH HOPE: Our friend Nick introduced us to Pandora last night and we LOVE it. It will help you find out what you like and order CD’s with detailed notes and even rank songs to pair down to the music artists you really love but may have not discovered yet. As more of us can afford to buy at home music production studios the choices of musicians are almost infinite. This can offer some ‘dead on’ direction for finding your next favorite artists. The Buyladj.com site launched early this morning. This site sells a movie about a trailer park talented pair Tim Scarne and Thomas Ian Nicolas getting an LA DJ 101 life lesson when they end up with their Uncle at a Bat mitzvah and then get a chance to show there skillz at a Los Angeles DJ spin off.

To my 3:00 today: I was at 5264 Wilshire but found no Cafe. I cut my losses after ½ hour of looking for who and where you might appear. I picked up some Starbucks a block down and went to the Farmers market to replace the French press that I broke yesterday. I called you from the number you used yesterday … but you have no voicemail. I applaud that in this town it is very unique. I looked for a Cafe Latte but unfortunately the one that is optimized is in St. Paul Minnesota, a long way from Los Angeles. Anyhow I am hoping you will check my web blog at some point for this formal (somewhat public) apology in case I got the address wrong and left you drinking coffee alone, please call me and let’s try to start this web design process again. ;D

Star Higgins' very adorable online art studio is open for browsing as of today. Star is a very skilled landscape painter from Sierra Madre with an impressive amount of work, only partially dented on her new website. You can currently see or buy her work from 'plein air landscapes ' at the MJ Higgins Gallery in downtown Los Angeles. Her whole family is filled with amazing artists and their work is worth checking out in person. My favorite? The Meat Shall Inherit the Earth.

An amazing unfiltered art and design project instigated by the (the awe inspiring) Miss Jordan Hasley, teaching her Kindergarten class in Hawaii. The project is called ' The Kindergardens Brain Project' - It aims to answer the question . . . what does it look like in our brains when we are thinking? She says these kids even constructed, built and then pointed out parts where "the stuff they forget about goes". Check out the preschools oil, pastel and watercolors and the ocean paintings to be even more impressed. Watch out MOMA!

A short coincidence I want to share:
I bought an Elle this month with Scarlet Johanson on the cover . . . it is strange because I buy a mag (aside from Wired) about once every 2 years. I was flipping thru it and found a small article about an Art Gallery owner in New York. Good, I thought, that was one I could read all of. I saw the artist Erika Somogyi mentioned as I got a bit down the page and started freaking out.
A little flashback:
I met her at a thrift artsy clothing store about 8 years ago while I was at The Art Institute of Chicago. I think I had a friends dog or my cat, or some animal in my bag that day for some reason so we started talking. We hung out drinking Malibu Rum and Pineapple juice and riding our bikes to jump in the lake Michigan (which we were crazy for doing for pollution dangers) throughout that summer. Check out the article to the left by clicking on the Ericka pick I pulled off her website Through The Trees. Even weirder . . Erikca said the random Elle purchase phenomenon happened with a lot people who know her.
